Agave stricta 'Nana'
This is a stunning plant and so easy to look after. A cultivar of a plant native to Puebla & Oaxaca in Southern Mexico it is an evergreen succulent with very attractive rosettes of narrow spiny leaves. These grow in a spiral making it a very stunning architectural plant. The leaves are blue grey in colour and these are striking in constrast with the reddish purple flowers it develops in summer. This is also when the foliage develops a reddish tinge for added seasonal interest. It will also produce pincushion-like offsets as it grows hence its common name of hedgehog cactus. This is happiest in full sun and our house is a very happy, and elegant south facing window sill dweller.
These are very mature plants which have formed a dense dome of spikey leaves. Not recommended for those with curious young folk or pets, unless you have a spot in mind far from them, as the spikes are truely lethal.
This plant is supplied in a 13cm pot and, as with all our plants, comes with its own comprehensive easy to follow care guide.
Positioning and Care Needs
This enjoys lots of direct light so a position in a South Facing window is ideal.
This is a very slow growing plant and requires very infrequent watering in the growing season and almost never during the winter. Comprehensive care instructions will be provided with your plant.
