Plant Bio :
Begonia Ferox is native to the limestone forests of Guangxi, China, where it thrives in their high levels of humidity. It makes it home on rocky outcrops where it enjoys the dappled light which filters through the evergreen trees. This unusual Begonia species is ideal for terrariums and humid rooms such as bathrooms. Where it will delight you its new leaves, which emerge in soft red hues, gradually harden and developing their iconic spines.
Positioning
Position your Begonia Ferox in a spot with very good light but mostly indirect light. In particular avoid letting the intense midday sun shine directly onto the leaves as this will result in the leaves becoming yellowed & crispy at the margins. It thrives in humidity which makes it a perfect terrarium plant but will be happy in a humid room such as a bathroom.
Watering
Water your Begonia Ferox when the top couple of cms of the growing medium feels dry to the touch & the plant looks a little dull. The aim is to keep the growing medium moist but not water logged. Avoid getting large drops of water on the leaves and, if you cannot access the top of the growing medium, opt to under rather than over water this plant. Be senstive to changes in temperature and reduce watering during the colder months when the plant is not in growth.
