    Cylindropuntia imbricata - delhi colorado is a form of imbricata, a cold hardy cactus, which was discovered in delhi a small town in Las Animas County in Colorado.  It is cylindrical with both glochoids (small detachable hair like spines) and very vicious sharp, barbed spines.

    Much more compact than the typical Cylindropuntia imbricata species.

  • Positioning

    Your Cylindropuntia imbricata - delhi colorado would enjoy a position with lots of direct light.  A spot in a South Facing window sill would be ideal.  These plants are cold tolerant as low as 4°C as long as in dry, rather than damp, conditions. 

  • Watering

    Your Cylindropuntia imbricata - delhi coloradorequires very little water.  Watering frequency is dependent on how much direct light the plant recieves but once every six weeks whilst in growth & no water during the colder months is our watering regime.  It grows best in a mostly none organic material, i.e. lots of grit, sand & gravel, to assist rapid drainage.

  • Growth Habits

    In spring, the new growth on your Cylindropuntia imbricata - delhi colorados is pink which matures to green as it matures. Produces salmon coloured flowers starting when the plant is between 5 and 10 years old.

    Grows best in a mostly mineral medium (i.e. lots of grit, sand gravel etc.) to assist in rapid drainage. And benefits from some rain protection if grown outdoors year round.
