Plant Bio :
Ledebouria Socialis or Leopard Lillies, with their silvery leaves adorned with green spots are lovely little plants which originate from Southern Africa where they have adapted to grow in the arid conditions the dry African savannahs. As a consequence, whilst not strictly speaking a succulent, they do share many of the characteristics of plants adapted for drought. This includes its unique purple toned teardrop shaped bulbs which form above the ground. These have the capacity to store moisture in anticipation of periods of drought.
Positioning
Ledebouria Socialis or Leopard Lillies require a spot in very good light but avoid the harsh light of the midday sun as this will result in leaf scorch.
Watering
Your Ledebouria Socialis is adapted to tolerant periods of drought by storing water so only water when the growing medium has completely dried out. How frequently will depend on the plant's position and rate of growth.
Growth Habits
Your Ledebouria Socialis or Leopard Lilly as it grows new bulbs will develop around the sides of the original one, usually at an angle, as it continues to swell. If happy it will produce small green flowers on pink stems in spring. This is a plant which gets wider, rather than much taller, so in time will require repotting in a wider pot so it can continue to grow new bulbs.
Pot Size
This plant will be supplied in a 6cm pot along with a comprehensive easy-to-follow care guide.
