Plant Bio
Muehlenbeckia complexa is a New Zealand native and part of a species which takes its generic name from the nineteenth century French botanist Muehlenbeck. This plant's specific name is from the Latin complexa which means tangled. A perfect name for a species which produces a tangled mass of inter twining stems. It's charm is this airness as well as the lush green of its leaves.
Positioning
Your Muehlenbeckia complexa will enjoy a position with good but mostly indirect light avoiding the direct light of the middle of the day. However it will tolerate quite low levels of light though it's rate of growth will be slower. Enjoys humidity but tolerant of the average humidity of a UK home. Just avoid sources of heat in the winter, which dry out the air, as well as cold spots.
Watering
Your Muehlenbeckia complexa likes to be kept moist but not water logged. We find that it is happy to live in a plant pot without drainage holes as long as long as the growing medium has plenty of drainage and the plant is only watered when the top cm of the medium feels dry to the touch. Reduce the frequency of watering in winter when the plant is not in growth.
Plant Habits
In the wild Muehlenbeckia complexa is a climbing plant which uses support from its own structure in order to climb up trees. In your home you can provide support for it to climb or grow it as a climber. Keeping the plant trimmed can help you create a more dense plant.
Pot Size
Your Muehlenbeckia complexa plant is supplied in a 10cm pot along with a comprehensive easy to follow care guide.
